The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes is a book by English author Arthur Conan Doyle, first published in 1894. It is the fourth book in the Sherlock Holmes series, and is a collection of twelve short stories featuring the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and his loyal friend and biographer Dr. John Watson. The stories follow the detective as he uses his remarkable powers of observation, deduction, and knowledge of crime to solve a variety of mysteries, often to the puzzlement of Scotland Yard. The collection highlights the unique and highly methodical approach to detective work that made Sherlock Holmes a timeless and iconic figure in popular culture. Included in this collection is ‘The Final Problem’, in which Doyle decided to kill off his famous character. However, demand from his fans meant that he brought him back for a further 5 novels. Other stories in this collection are: The Silver Blaze; The Cardboard Box (which didn’t appear in the first edition, and is usually left out of other editions); The Yellow Face; The Stockbroker’s Clerk; TheĀ Gloria Scott; The Musgrave Ritual; The Reigate Squire; The Crooked Man; The Resident Patient; The Greek Interpreter; and, The Naval Treaty. The cover image of this book of the Reichenbach Falls is the location where Sherlock Holmes fights to the death with Professor Moriarty at the end of ‘The Final Problem’.
